The Cotton Dive Centre Come enjoy scuba diving among the pristine coral reefs of Rodrigues, an ideal scuba diving destination. Rodrigues’ isolated location and limited commercial development have always restricted fishing activities to a minimum. In the lagoons, the pirogues are generally pole propelled. The coral reef has therefore remained untouched and is an outstanding divers’ paradise. By order of preference, here are the most favourable diving periods. Carved over centuries, by marine life and tide influence, coral arches and deep ravines provide superb diving sites. They shelter an impressive fauna likely to reward the boldest divers. Cliffs, cantilevers, collapses and caves are yet to be discovered. As from the level1, shallow diving sites are accessible, thus enabling beginners to have fun and benefit from total security in the lagoon. A wide range of spots is available for experienced and confirmed divers. Diving in Rodrigues will hopefully increase the divers’ passion for such a precious and such a rich submarine world. The Various sites are: CAMELEROU – 15m; THE CANYON – 17 m; THE BALLADE; ES DEMOISELLES – 4m50; SAINT FRANÇOIS’ PASS – 30m ; THE TURTLE DRY – 31m; KARLANNE – 23m; BEGUE – 13m; DEUX MAISONS – 28m ; MAEVAINA – 19m; BALADIROU PASS – 25m ; CATHY – 25m; BASSIN CATEAU OR PETITE LEA – 17m ; SANDRAVA – 20m; PETIT BRISANT-23m ; LA BASILIQUE - 25m ; KING CAVE – 23m; THE AQUARIUM – 7m October, November, December, and January: Good visibility, smooth sea, transit of large marine mammals: humpback whales, etc. Water temperature is between 28 and 30 degrees. Rodrigues offers an escape back in time to an era when life was unhurried and more relaxed. Visitors will find the slower pace of life refreshing and rejuvenating. Even the Creole, the heart language of the people, is spoken at a slower pace than in Mauritius, of which Rodrigues is a dependent. The island has remained hidden from excessive tourism, and visitors will find the people warm and friendly, happy to show you their beautiful island and share a taste of their culture. Cultural highlights not to be missed include
Rodrigues - The Land Seventeen islets surround the island. Excursions to these islets, like the bird-populated Ile aux Cocos or Ile aux Sables, make for delightful adventures. Rodrigues - the Beaches Diving Flights
