Dolphin Watch and Whale Watch

Full-day cruise with lunch and refreshments
If you have ever dreamed of getting up close and personal with wild dolphins, don’t miss this opportunity! We set sails early from Grand Bay and head south towards Tamarin and its resident population of bottlenose and spinner dolphins. By the time we get there the dolphins – sometimes up to 200 of them – will be busy playing and splashing around and you may even get a chance to swim with them!
Although the dolphins of Tamarin are certainly a highlight of this cruise, we very often come across whales and other dolphins all along the west coast. This is a coastline of outstanding natural beauty, dotted with spectacular sea cliffs and historical sites. We will sail past the magnificent Albion Lighthouse, one of only two lighthouses that remain in operation (along with the one atop Flat Island). The Albion lighthouse was inaugurated in 1910 and still serves as a precious beacon with its imposing height to the incoming ships travelling to Port-Louis
After your wild encounter with dolphins, you will have plenty of opportunities to snorkel in crystal clear waters among countless colourful tropical fish while your crew will be busy preparing a sumptuous BBQ buffet. In the background, Le Morne Brabant, perhaps Mauritius most famous landmark will provide great photo opportunities!
This cruise is also available as a private charter and can be customized to your wishes.

Quick Dolphin Facts
Just like human skin, dolphin skin constantly flakes and peels as new skin cells
replace old cells. A dolphin's skin layer is replaced every two hours – nine
times faster than in humans! This turnover rate ensures a smooth body surface
and helps increase swimming efficiency by reducing drag (resistance to
movement).

Catamarans
The
two brand new Scape 39 sailing catamarans, Wind Dancer 1 and Wind Dancer 2, were
designed by the renowned boat architect Alex Simonis and custom-built in Cape
Town, South Africa. They were delivered to Mauritius by sea in 2008 and 2009,
respectively.
The Scape 39 is a spacious and stable vessel, built for comfort, safety, ease of
viewing and performance. It has large (and very popular!) flat decks and
trampolines for lounging in the sun, a huge shaded cockpit with seating for all
passengers, and it offers 360 degree views for easy spotting of our abundant
marine life, making it the perfect charter cruiser for Mauritius.
For the popular overnight charters the Scape 39 comes with two queen-sized guest
cabins, each with a private en suite, solid wood trimming (mainly Teak) and
plenty of storage space.
For all other charters the Scape 39 sits comfortably 42 adult passengers and is
licensed as such in both South Africa and Mauritius.
Both catamarans are equipped with all-modern navigational instruments and safety
devices to ensure passenger safety.
