Riviere Noire - Further South on the West coast, it is close to Tamarin which is popular with those looking for exhilarating surfing emotions and yet allowing residents to holiday at a slower pace. Dryer than the north western coast and not yet spoilt by tourism, Riviere Noire is a very popular beach resort as it is fairly close and more accessible to most attractions and towns. It is halfway between Port Louis, the capital, and Le Morne with its several beach hotels. One advantage is its proximity to the beautiful south coast route which meanders its way along bays, river estuaries and fabulous views making this stretch of coastal road the most picturesque and a must for lovers of nature.
