LOCATION: Riambel (Souillac), MAURITIUS FEATURES Seafront (South facing) STAFF Overview As soon as you drive through the gate, you find yourself in a tropical sanctuary – Villa Champagne (renovated in 2009) is one of very rare “private” villas on the South coast of the island. Designed by a leading architect, the elegant beach house, with its hand-cut basalt stones recuperated from an ancient colonial home, is a show case of modern architecture allied to traditional materials. Discreetly luxurious, she is nestled in a beautiful tropical fenced garden of swaying palms and mature tropical trees stretching down to the magnificent beach of fine sand of Riambel which extends for kilometres on this preserved semi-wild coast. The lagoon is shallow and excellently suited to snorkeling. It is to be noted that 300m from the villa, a pass through the coral reef opens on to deep sea – kite-surfers particularly enjoy this spot but swimming in the vicinity is prohibited and children should therefore be supervised. The private swimming pool, heated in winter, completes the comfort of the villa while adding to the pleasure of swimming in the lagoon. Its secluded location (75m from the road, 50m from the beach and only one neighbouring villa occupied by the owners in July and December), makes is a haven of tranquility and privacy. On Sundays and bank holidays, the public beach (150m from the villa) can be pleasantly animated with local sega music and dancing for a few hours. Its proximity to some 4* – 5* hotels and tourist attractions does not detract from the charm of this fishing village which has preserved its mauritian authenticity. For those who enjoy fishing, frequent catches from the beach are the norm at dusk or at night. An experienced fisherman is also available to take you surfcasting and fly-fishing (rates on request). During the hunting season, an experienced hunter is available for deer and wild boar hunting (rates on request).
Accommodation The refined furniture is in prime teak wood and the woodwork in balao. All the rooms throughout the villa have a ceiling or wall fan and the bedrooms are air-conditioned. Ground Floor The spacious interior lounge and dining room boast comfortable rattan sofas and armchairs, coffee table, LCD TV, sideboard, table lamps, free standing lamp, ceiling fans, paintings by local artists, solid wood dining table and chairs seating 8. They open onto the lawned garden through large glass doors secured by louvres shutters. The covered swimming pool terrace, directly overlooking the pool, is furnished with rattan armchairs, teak sun loungers, wooden coffee table and ceiling fans. It is secured by electric roller shutters. Guest cloakroom. Bedroom 1: King-size bed (1m80), bedside tables and lamps, free standing lamp, chest of drawers. En suite shower room with shower cubicle and double wash basins. Separate WC. Private terrace with canvas armchairs and views on the garden. Bedroom 2:King-size bed (1m80), bedside tables and lamps, wooden roman chair. En suite bathroom with bath, shower (above bath), wash basin, WC, secured fitted wardrobe (for valuables), safe. Direct access to covered terrace overlooking pool. Spacious well-equipped kitchen (30m2) with white granite worktops, high quality storage units, breakfast table, stools and chairs, professional stainless steel equipment and wall fans. Adjoining kitchen yard with worktop, twin stainless steel sinks and dustbins. Laundry room/technical room: Washing machine, steam iron, ironing board, First Aid cabinet, additional freezer, generator (lights, fridge, water pumps only), electricity control panel and water pumps. First Floor Bedroom 3 (master): King-size bed (1m80), bedside table and lamp, wardrobe. En suite bathroom with bathtub, shower cubicle, His and Hers wash basins, WC. Small balcony under the tree tops. Junior Suite (sea views): Small sitting area with single sofa/bed and LCD TV (sat). En suite bedroom with 3 single beds (including one trundle-bed and two singles which can be put together), free standing lamp, chair. Shower-room (accessing both sitting area and bedroom) with shower cubicle, wash basin and WC. Kitchen equipment American fridge, range cooker with 5 burner hob and electric oven, dishwasher, water filter, high performance air extractor hood, professional stainless steel cooking utensils and knives, double stainless steel sink, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee-maker. Swimming pool: 3m50 x 7m.(Depth 0.5m – 1m45). Diving is not allowed. Being only partially fenced, children must be supervised.
