counter pointing the best in man and Nature.

On the other, there is man’s amazing ingenuity
when he applies his art and science, not to improve on Nature,
but to express his love for her. |
The result is
Les Chalets en Champagne,
not so much a complex of mountain cottages as a labour of love, so designed
as to enhance the splendour of the surrounding tropical rainforest that
plunges precipitously down the slopes of the Black River mountain range to
the sea sparkling sapphire and diamond all the way to the horizon.

architecture and design bestow an aura of warmth and romance to the chalets
that is unrivalled…

A
Coeur Bois
is located in the heart of an evergreen forest adjoining the National Park,
in the very lap of Piton de La Petite Rivière Noire, the highest peak of
Mauritius. The scenery is spectacular, with the forest canopy clambering up
undulating mountain slopes and soaring peaks. The whole region is a vast
park and a natural open-air aviary, an irresistible invitation to
nature-lovers to take to the forest tracks and see Mauritius in its pristine
state.
A Coeur Bois has been
conceived and designed as a hypothetical forest village, comprising major

The Village of "A Coeur Bois"
“Nid-Jo”
- The Conservator’s Mansion:
Made up of 17 rare species of timber, both local and imported, Nid-Jo is the
palatial residence of the Conservator.
The architecture evokes the traditional Creole residences of the colonial
period furnished with the luxury and affluence of modern times, with some
subtle allusions to Balinese design and décor.
“La Roche Qui Rit”
- the Monument
Rising from waves of innocence and struggling for survival against the
constant attacks and caprices of “Mother Nature”, la “Roche-Qui-Rit” is a
living testimony to the volcanism and other dominant forces that have shaped
the landscape …
… A symbol of life’s perpetual struggle!
“Le Pont des
Oliviers”
and
“Eden Talao”
The small wooden bridge “Le Pont des Oliviers” offers a little bit of
fantasy to Eden Talao, the pond, where birds, fish, geese and ducks can be
seen sunbathing or… taking a natural shower under the rain!
“ATMA”
and
“ATMAWE”
As ATMAWE meanders its way to ATMA, it evokes Mauritius in its religious
diversity… Here visitors will be sanctified by the beauty of the structural
representations of Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism and Christianity, before
liberating themselves in ATMA, the meditation corner or… the SOUL of the
village.
“Avenue des Bois
Divers”
and
“Le Traveller”
Helipad:
Struggling to impose itself amidst the natural environment and land relief,
L’Avenue des Bois Divers leads us along to the Chalets by passing through a
Helipad named “Le Traveller”, which makes A Coeur Bois discreetly and
conveniently accessible from the various parts of the island and from the
airport.
“Ti Bazaar”
The “Ti Bazaar” proposes, in the pure and authentic Mauritian style, some
seasonal fruits (like chinese guava and wild berries) and “tisanes” derived
from A Coeur Bois itself.
“Les Chalets Montagnards”
Bois Canne
and
Bois Bigaignon
comprise each of two double bedrooms with
air conditioning,
a living/dining room with TV, DVD player, fireplace and mini-bar, a kitchen
corner with kettle, toaster, micro-wave fridge-freezer and tea/coffee-making
facilities, and one bathroom/toilet.
Bois Bigaignon also offers a Sun deck.
“Lodge
Champenois”
Bois de Rivière
comprises three bedrooms with air conditioning and en suite bathroom and
toilet.
The master bedroom on the ground floor has special features such as a patio
Jacuzzi in an indoor garden
and two bedrooms on the mezzanine with a connecting lounge between the
rooms.
The Lodge also includes a spacious living/dining room with TV/DVD, Hi-Fi
player, fireplace and mini-bar,
as well as a fully-equipped kitchen and an indoor leisure corner.
“Varangue sur Morne” Restaurant
Originally a rustic gamekeeper’s lodge, the restaurant has been
conceived as a large veranda, with a balcony view over the whole of the
mountainous area, sweeping down to Baie du Cap, Le Morne and beyond. Here,
at Varangue sur Morne, in its sublime serene setting, you will at last
succumb to the spell of beauty and feel, like the poet, its liberating
power.
