Pointe
aux Canonniers - Stretching from
the well-known Choisy beach to Grand Bay is Pointe aux Canonniers,
well-known by regular visitors to Club Med. Mont Choisy and Grand Bay are
only a few
minutes away with their turquoise lagoons and gentle waves lapping the
shore. At the Mont
Choisy end (south) of that 2km stretch of perfect beach, the Club Med
allows non-resident tourists to take advantage of its restaurants, bar and
evening shows for a modest fee. However, at the other end you are
practically in Grand Bay with its numerous restaurants, duty-free shops and its festive
atmosphere (less than a km away). We give you hereunder indications of
where the various villas are located.
Villa Alouette
Overview
A charming 3-bedroom villa set on the lawn of a private
garden overlooking the beach and turquoise lagoon between Pointe aux
Canonniers and Grand Bay, on the north-west coast of the island.
A terrace at the back of the villa provides a BBQ area with table and
chairs.
75 minutes by car from the airport but only a few minutes from supermarkets,
restaurants, banks and a private medical centre.
Inside
The spacious open
veranda , with its lounge corner, eating area, sun loungers and raffia
blinds to protect from the sun and winds, offers a beautiful view of the
beach and the ocean, with the Coin de Mire as backdrop.
The large lounge/dining-room is furnished with a comfortable suite as well
as a dining table and chairs seating 8 and a ceiling fan. The main bedroom
has a double bed, air-con, en suite shower-room/toilet and views of the sea.
Bedroom 2 has a double bed and air-con.
Bedroom 3 has 2 single beds and aircon. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a
shower-room/toilet.
Well equipped kitchen.
Equipment – Kitchen & Others
Gas cooker/electric
oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, coffee-maker,
dishwasher, washing machine. TV (satellite channels), telephone. BBQ.
Snorkelling, unless during high tide, is somewhat limited by shallow
lagoon.
Staff
Mala is available
for cleaning and cooking from 8 am to 1 pm every day (except on Sundays and
bank holidays). Babysitting is by hourly rate and by private arrangement
with the maid.
Neighbourhood
In Mont
Choisy (1 km) and Trou aux Biches (2 km): Water skiing, windsurfing, pedalos,
parasailing, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing as well as golf (9-hole course)
and casino at Trou aux Biches Hotel. In Mon Choisy (1 km): diving centre.
In Grand Baie (1 km): catamaran excursions to the Northern islands,
underwater excursions in submarine, sea-scooters, kite surfing, tax-free
shopping at smart boutiques of Sunset Boulevard and an array of restaurants
offering a variety of cuisines. Nature lovers should not miss a visit to
the National Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousses and Le Musée du Sucre and
its restaurant Le Fangourin nearby.
