The Shooting Star Lodge is situated at 40 km from Stone Town going to the north east coast, amidst verdant tropical garden with breath taking view across the Indian Ocean. It is a relaxed family-run boutique resort and is isolated at the very northern tip on Kiwengwa beach thus offering tranquillity and exclusivity as well as privacy. ACCOMMODATION With white lime-washed walls, high beamed ceilings and large windows, the buildings at Shooting Star Lodge are built in traditional Zanzibari style offering comfort and privacy. The 2 suites, Kuzi and Kaskasi, are set on the crest of a hill away from the main hotel guest rooms offering complete privacy. Each suite is laid out on 3 floors with 2 bedrooms and a private swimming pool which is set in a tropical garden. The villas are furnished with splendid traditional Zanzibar furniture and batik linen, the only touch of modernism being air-conditioning and a ceiling fan You can have a 360° view of the ocean from the sitting area on the roof top or enjoy a romantic bath in the inbuilt tub while dreamingly admiring the starry night. You can also relax in the fully netted bed with the warm breeze rocking you to sleep. The 11 sea view rooms are also built in traditional Zanzibari style with the airy, high beamed ceilings, large windows, traditionally carved wooden Zanzibari beds, with beautifully dyed mosquito net canopies and matching Tanzanian ‘vintage’ batik bed covers, along with coconut wood wall mirrors and other hand-made teak wood furniture and AC. Four of the sea view cottages are set out on two levels and are ideal for families: the ground floor has a large air-conditioned double bedroom, shower room and separate closet, a staircase leads up to a twin children’s room in the roof space. Whilst there is a separate wash basin area on the upper level, the shower and toilet are shared with the ground floor. The upper level has ceiling and table fans only. From your private veranda you can enjoy the view to the Ocean while relaxing. The 3 garden lodge rooms are en suite rooms but are smaller and more simply furnished with zanzibari beds. They open on a terrace that looks on the tropical garden. All the rooms have the following: · Wall lights · Bedside lamps · Ceiling fans and AC · Overhead showers with hot & cold water in bathroom The pathways to the beach between the cottages are just sand, so you can have a nice stroll to the beach. The pathways are illuminated at night for safety and comfort and to add a romantic touch.
You can enjoy a nice breakfast, lunch or dinner at the open air restaurant which is well known for fine food, cosy atmosphere and friendly service, while enjoying the warm sun and natural beauty around under makuti roof and toes-in-sand. The Tanzanian chef specialises in seafood, grills and traditional zanzibari cuisine as well as vegetarian dishes.
ACTIVITIES You can go snorkelling or diving in the warm Indian Ocean to admire the vast marine life. You might also like to try a floodlit swim in the crystal clear pools of a limestone cave. You can also visit the fishing villages and interact with local people, watch local women in the sea weed farms and children collecting mussels. Or you can visit Zanzibar town, Jozani forest, or a spice farm.
